Description

The “carovana rosa” (the official vehicles and sponsor vehicles that precede the riders at almost every stage) arrived for the first time in the Orco Valley in 2019 during the 13th stage Pinerolo-Ceresole Reale with arrival at Lake Serrù above Ceresole Reale. Rivarolo was “Stage City” on 22 May 2022, for the section that climbs to Cogne. It had already hosted an arrival of the Giro in 2014.

Schedule

Day 1

Check-in to a hotel in Rivarolo, "Stage City" of the Giro d'Italia 2022 for the hamlet which climbs to Cogne and offers harmony, good food and outdoor living in close contact with nature in a friendly and comfortable setting.
Afternoon at leisure, to discover the most fascinating places of the area. We recommend a visit to the centre of Rivarolo Canavese which is found in the plain of the Canavese district, do not miss out on the medieval Malgrà Castle to continue along the High Street with its arcades and shops.
Evening dedicated to tasting excellent beers of a well-known local producer at his brewery, an excellent excuse to accompany the delicious hamburgers created with fresh bread of a well-known bakery of the area which uses 0-mileage flour and stuffed with all the local specialties such as excellent minced meat and the cheeses aged in the valleys of the Canavese district, or to taste the delicious vegetarian version.
Return to hotel and overnight accommodation.

Day 2

Rich breakfast in hotel.
A day pedalling among the clouds. On your saddle towards the Park of the Gran Paradiso. Between roads closed to traffic, for cyclists the Canavese district is a land of two wheels, a true breeding ground of cyclists. The beauty of Serrù awaits and the effort is not lacking. The 71km route with a difference in altitude of 2,522 m starts from Rivarolo Canavese to tackle a first flat stretch towards Ozegna, Castellamonte and Cuorgnè to Locana. The road is always slightly uphill but with gentle gradients. Continue to Noasca and after some hairpin bends with demanding gradients return to almost flat ground. The arrival in Ceresole Reale and the beautiful view of the lake prepare for the last uphill climb. After a short stretch on flat land start the last truly demanding 15km. Arrived at Lake Serrù, the finishing point of stage 13 of the Giro d'Italia in 2019. The last 5.5 km remain before reaching Colle del Nivolet.
