Sport and wellness in the heart of the Graian Alps
Tour between Italy and France
end of June - beginning of September
Enjoy breathtaking views on the Tour of the Bessanese, in the heart of the Graian Alps, where Nature still reigns supreme. The route winds for 32 km between Italy and France, up to the Collerin Pass at 3,200 m, amidst lush valleys, lakes and streams, surrounded by ibex, marmots and the colours of the alpine flora. Rest in one of the mountain huts in the area, where the welcoming warmth of the valley combines with rich mountain cuisine.
From Pian della Mussa to Cibrario. From Pian della Mussa di Balme, a plateau of glacial origin, we arrive at the Rifugio Gastaldi mountain hut, at 2,650 m, then continue amid lakes and small waterfalls with a panoramic stop at Collarin d'Arnas, Lake della Rossa and Colle Altare. Overnight stay at the Rifugio Cibrario mountain hut.
From Cibrario to Averole. From the Rifugio Cibrario in the Viù Valley, we cross the glacial moraines to the Colle Sule' pass. After grassy stretches and mule tracks, we make a panoramic stop at the Autaret Lakes. The trail then goes down into the Lombarde Valley to the Pas de la Mule and the Refuge d'Averole mountain hut.
From Averole to the Gastaldi mountain hut. The trail passes through moraines and rocky slopes where you can discover ancient glaciers: from Des Grandes Pareis to the Collerin Pass, up to the impressive Pian Gias glacier, at 3,000 m. It then goes down towards Pian della Mussa to arrive at the Rifugio Gastaldi mountain hut.
From Gastaldi to Pian della Mussa. After a flat stretch with some rocky slopes, there are some hairpin bends before the path heads towards Pian dei Morti. Pian della Mussa is reached after passing the Stura river.
