Highlights and tour details
La Via delle Risorgive, also known as Airasca-Moretta cycle path (in Piedmontese, La ciclàbil ĕd la Ferovìa o dle Risorgive), connects the towns of Airasca and Moretta, through the areas of Scalenghe, Cercenasco, Vigone, Villafranca Piemonte. It is a cycle path, but can also be used by pedestrians, with due respect for cyclists, in single file, allowing bikes to be ridden safely. In the area of Pinerolo, where delightful outings can be made to the characteristic centres, between medieval villages, museums and ancient churches, Via delle Risorgive wants to be a benchmark for the cycle tourism movement, which has grown considerably in recent years. The route has a paved surface, built on the site of the former regional Airasca-Saluzzo railway line in operation from 1884 to 1986. After a long period of inactivity, the idea to transform the railway track into a cycle path came about in the late 1990s. Today, the path is 19.2 km long and totally flat, with comfortable rest areas in each town. Given the presence of numerous springs in the areas crossed, the route has been called "Via delle Risorgive" (Way of the Springs) since 2014. It is part of the EuroVelo8 route and connects with the different cycle tourist routes of the metropolitan cycle network of Turin and of the Piedmont Region. It was officially inaugurated on 18 November 2017.
