Highlights and tour details
This magnificent climb, inserted in the routes of Gardetta Bike Emotions, is immersed in the alpine meadows, entirely paved and with moderate slopes.
To fully cross the infinite open spaces of the Arma Valley we suggest you depart from the hamlet of San Giacomo to reach the Valcavera Pass at 2,417 metres above sea level.
Points of interest
From the town of Cuneo head towards Valle Stura and the municipality of Demonte, towards the exit of the town take the road on the right that leads to the hamlet of San Giacomo and begin the climb towards Colle Valcavera.
INTERESTING PLACES:
Valle Stura
Among the villages to visit, we recommend Demonte, with its characteristic old town centre, Vinadio, with its imposing Forte Albertino (one of the most significant examples of military architecture in the Alps, now home to the interesting multimedia exhibition "Montagna in Movimento") and the sulphurous thermal baths of the hamlet of Bagni at about 1300 m above sea level and open all year round.
The Sant'Anna valley opens up from Vinadio and leads to Colle della Lombarda, another border between France and Italy that can be crossed in summer. The Sanctuary of Sant'Anna (the highest in Europe), an ancient mountain hospice built to welcome pilgrims from Provence, stands at an altitude of 2035 metres.
