Rifugio Zum Gora is located in the ancient village of Salecchio Superiore, founded by Walser settlers in the 13th century. It is a beautifully renovated and very cosy Walser cottage. It offers a typical Ossola cuisine, small rooms with 3 to 6 beds, bathroom with shower, solarium, panoramic terrace overlooking the Antigorio and Formazza Valleys. It is at 1509 metres above sea level and can be reached on foot and by mountain bike. It is suitable for families and groups of friends. The refuge can be an excellent starting point to reach the top of Monte Giove (3009 m a.s.l.) or simply for many hikes. It is also a good stopover place for the crossings that connect the various refuges in the area. For the less experienced, the charming villages of Salecchio Superiore, Salecchio Inferiore, Case Francoli and Alpe Vova can be reached in a short time. Ideal for spending a peaceful few days, or to taste the local specialities. For schools and groups there is the possibility to organize days at the refuge with guided tours of the Walser village and the Museum of Salecchio Inferiore. Hikes are organized on request with Mountain Guides and Mid-Mountain Guides.
