Palazzo Alfieri e Fondazione Museo Eugenio Guglielminetti

Pictures (1)

This is where the famous dramatist Vittorio Alfieri from Asti was born on 16 January 1749. His family took possession of the palazzo in the 17th century and it was "modernised" by the architect Benedetto Alfieri (Vittorio's cousin) sometime around 1736. Beyond the small atrium, there is a trapezoidal courtyard, of strong scenic impact; to the left is the garden, home to the plane tree of 1849. The main floor includes the apartments and the birth room of Vittorio Alfieri, who lived in this house until the age of five. The palazzo houses the Fondazione Centro Studi Alfierani, the Alfieri Museum. The Fondazione Guglielminetti situated on the ground floor of Palazzo Alfieri plays host to a rich calendar of temporary exhibitions. The permanent exhibition, inaugurated in 2016 in the hypogeal rooms of Palazzo Alfieri, displays the collection of sculpture and settings that represents fifty years of activity of the great dramatist from Asti. The Smarticket is the integrated ticket that allows access to Palazzo Alfieri, to the Eugenio Guglielminetti Museum and other five sites of the Foundation Asti Musei; the ticket, valid in the 7 days following the first validation, can be purchased at Palazzo Mazzetti. Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm. Last Admission 6 pm. Closed on Mondays.
