We saw this restaurant come to life on the main square of Terruggia, one of the most beautiful towns of Monferrato, entirely in tuff. We have also spoken about its qualitative development, which has always had a touch of originality and creativity. The restaurant seats thirty and is always open by reservation, and the diner is embraced by the warmth of the interiors. Just to give you an idea of the location, it is like being in a chalet desired by Antonella Calvo who works in the dining room and Carlo Mereatur, her husband and chef. This is also one of the restaurants where the tasting menu (€35) is recommended; there is also a small menu (€30) like the vegetarian one and the children’s menu (€12/15). We also recommend the meat carpaccio, which is also De.Co. (certified traditional local) dish of the Municipality of Terruggia. The menu also includes vegetarian dishes; the entrees (€11) offer a trio. Otherwise, there is also the trio of Fassone meat tartare, tuna in veal sauce with traditional Russian salad, tripe (cooked in oil or butter) with artichokes, the goose liver torchon with caramelised figs and a curious cannolo of snails with parsley in garlic and oil sauce. The first course (€11) includes agnolotti with stew sauce, or the cockerel filled ravioli with cherry tomatoes and Taggiasca olives. Of other visits, we recall the salt cod capellacci in shellfish broth, the quadrotti of sheep milk ricotta and spinach with butter and sage. A must of the restaurant, but also of the Monferrato area, will be (€17) the rabbit. Here it is stuffed with lemon and perfumed with vanilla; then the rump steak tagliata, but also the sea bass fillet and capers or the blanched salt cod with chickpea puree and sweet and sour peppers. On to the desserts (€7): apple and cinnamon cupcake with vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate, almond and sour cherry semifreddo and pineapple sorbet or pear and ginger cupcake with lemon and liquorice sorbet. The children can play in the playground in the square. Pets are welcome in the restaurant.
