Highlights and tour details
Going down from Tuffo you reach Valle del Braia and you go back up the path leaving the hamlet of Buggiali on the left and then go back down to Piazza Radicati. From here you take the asphalt municipal road to Grisoglio and after about 500 m you reach the centre of Brozolo with the 18th century church of San Giorgio. Continue on the municipal road and, after crossing the hamlet of Piai with the eighteenth-century Church of S. Stefano, a centuries-old oak tree is the point to turn left and start the walk on dirt roads. After a short uphill and downhill stretch, turn left again and, after a short walk on a dirt road you see the beautiful views of the hills of Monferrato Casalese. At about 3.5 km from Brozolo you keep left at two successive forks until you reach the stream. You cross it through a ford and immediately climb up along a country road practically in front of the crossing point. When you reach the top, continue to the right along a natural terrain cartroad. Then climb up to the left leaving the hamlet of Cervoto on the right. At the end of this country road, take a stretch of asphalt road and head left as far as the hamlet of Longagnano (7.80 km from Brozolo). From here you firstly take a natural terrain cartroad and, after about 9 km from Brozolo, you turn right into a wooded path where you can catch a glimpse of the village of Verrua Savoia. Continue on the left in the direction of the locality of Monte, then coming out of the wood and past a vineyard, you reach it. Go down the asphalt road and at 10.5 km (from Brozolo) turn left for a short stretch. After about 500 m turn right towards the little church of S. Rocco in the hamlet of Camorano. Another stretch in the wood starts after the church, until the bottom of the valley where you turn left to go up again after about 300 m along a cart track on the right. At the end of the climb you start to see the fortress and on the right the Po plain. You go down once again to the hamlet of Cascine where you take the asphalt municipal road to climb up to a bend where the Rocca di Verrua (fortress) appears in front of you. Then take the last stretch of dirt road so you can reach the final destination.
