Highlights and tour details

Leaving the refuge behind you, take the small dirt road downhill which, after a few dozen metres, has a hairpin bend to the left that leads towards meire d'i Fiur, so called because of the very rich spring blossoming of the area. Continuing downhill, skirt the meadows under the carriage road of Colle di Sampeyre. Leaving the brook on the right, proceed in the direction of meire Sus, old houses and haylofts located at the bottom of a large meadow basin. At the votive shrine near the meire, take the path to the right which, after crossing Rio S. Anna, shortly leads you to meire Misservè and the S. Anna restaurant, near the chair lifts. Following the asphalt road downhill for about twenty minutes you arrive at the fork with a dirt track uphill to the right. Take it and continue for about an hour, until reaching a meira that has been renovated using techniques untypical of the area. Looking out for the downhill path on the left marked with red notches, you follow it until reaching the votive shrine of the Culet. You continue, keeping to the ridge line along the cart road that passes the homonymous meire and after a slight climb, reach the buildings of the forts, an interesting system of military fortifications dating back to the beginning of the twentieth century. Continue descending along the old military road which, after crossing a beautiful woodland area, comes to the ruined meire Albert and reaches the crossroads with the mule track of the Birrone valley. Turning right and after a short flat route, you arrive at the chapel of S. Mauro, an ancient devotional sanctuary located on the connecting route with Valle Maira. Descend along the track that runs along the Birrone brook as far as Brusà, a hamlet that is still inhabited, from which the carriage road leads you to Ressia Superiore. After crossing the provincial road that crosses the Varaita, you shortly reach the village of Rore.
