Highlights and tour details

From the side of Piazza Caduti we go up to the left of the church, keeping to the asphalt road that passes in front of the fire station in the direction of Rolfa and passes by the washhouse and the Ribodino fountain. In a flatter section we find a marked path on the left. We take it and go up into the woods. We leave the steep climb to the chapel of S. Antonio on the right and go left towards the village of Lussia. We cross the village and continue on the dirt road towards Valmala. The path alternates with dirt roads and we continue through a beautiful chestnut and beech wood. Higher up, the wood becomes thinner and birch trees appear. We come to a dirt road with a sign on the right for the hamlet of Rolfa and in front of us there is a house with a very pointed roof. We turn left and go down the asphalt road that leads us in about 1 km, in front of the chapel of Madonna di Peralba. We pass on the left of the chapel following the road that then bends right towards Rossana. We reach Casale Isaia and the village of Galop. We descend towards Rossana, leaving out the dirt road that goes towards Borgata Grossa and Lemma. We cross a small brook, skirt an open meadow and enter the thick wood. We descend on a steep path among fenced pieces of land and we come out on a nice gravel road. We ignore the signs for the hamlet of Pritta and continue on the dirt road. The mule track alternates with the path and we pass by a water collection tank. We cross a short pinewood and walk along a fenced piece of land for a long stretch, reaching a nice dirt road. We pass a bar and always keeping to the main road we pass by a shrine and some farmsteads. We descend into the woods and via hairpin bends between the houses we arrive at the sports ground. We cross the stream on the right, go around the cemetery and go up the provincial road. We cross it and enter the village of Rossana, arriving in front of the imposing parish church. We turn left and follow the signs for Piasco and, after about 150 metres we turn right onto the dirt road that crosses the old limestone quarry, and a little further on we reach the one called "Prese di Saluzzo" that runs alongside the Varaita stream. Shortly, we are in the historical town centre of Costigliole Saluzzo, between the two castles.
