This restaurant, hotel and conference centre is the most desirable destination for anyone coming to Casale. This is a family of professionals, and Patrizia Grossi continues a glorious history in the Italian restaurant business with her husband Paolo. The dining room is very welcoming, spacious, airy and elegant. There is a fine wine selection and the service is of a rare professionalism. An excellent calling card for the cuisine, which offers the Traditional menu at €37 and Patrizia’s menu at €47. The meal opens (starters €15) with the delicacy of baked caramelised onions with warm-cold Parmesan; then the veal in tuna sauce alla casalese antica, the wood-scented rabbit terrine with grape and dried fruit salad. On to the first course (€13) dishes: Casale-style agnolotti, a De.Co (certified traditional local) product are a must, filled with three types of meat according to the Monferrato tradition. The panissa of Casale Popolo, the potato dumplings with sausage and various interpretations of Carnaroli in risotto are also served. The porcini-scented tagliolini with meat sauce are memorable. Of the second course (€17) dishes a must of the Torre is the slow-cooked veal stew with potato puree, but there is also the Fassone beef fillet with mustard, the braised veal cheek in aged Barbera with potato puree, the Sambuca lamb and the legendary baked rabbit which is almost unmissable in Monferrato. Like the upside down apple cake (€9) next to the millefeuille, the bonet and Monferrina pumpkin pie. What have we forgotten? The cheese, to choose to drink another good glass of wine.
