Highlights and tour details
The trail adopted by the fire-fighing body AIB, WWF (World Wild Fund) and CAI (Club Alpino Italiano) is named after David Bertrand, a young member of AIB killed in the provincial park of Monte San Giorgio during the Piossasco fire in 1999. At institutional level, this initiative is promoted by the Metropolitan City of Turin and by the Municipalities of Piossasco, Roletto, Cantalupa, Pinerolo, Frossasco, Trana and Cumiana, which are crossed by the permanent trail. The route, with departure from Roletto (town where David was born), transits the Park Monte Tre Denti – Freidour and, along a ridge path, arrives to the Monte San Giorgio Park (place where the young man died), and Casa Martignona (Piossasco). The route is 37 km long with a positive altitude difference of 1500, characteristics that make it suitable for hosting a good level trail race.
