Alta Via dell'Anfiteatro Morenico di Ivrea: Stage 4 Castellazzo - Vialfrè

da Caluso a Vialfrè (14,20 km)
Highlights and tour details

Departing from Castellazzo di Caluso, follow a long straight stretch that will take you to Candia. Near M. Chiaro you join an asphalt road that ends after a hairpin bend on the SS26. Follow it to the right and then turn into Via S. Stefano, which leads to the homonymous church dating back to the 11th century. Continue along the road for a few dozen metres and then take the path on the left that leads to Col delle Vigne. You will then come across a cart track that you follow to the right, which ends at the dirt road coming from Barone Canavese. Here you proceed to the right until you pass a wooden cross, then you intercept the path that runs along Costa di S. Stefano on the left. At Km 13.85 you join a dirt road that leads to a hillock where you continue opposite. Always follow the signs as far as km 14.94, where you have to descend sharply to the right (proceed on foot because of the gradient and the very uneven ground). At the end of the descent you come to a flat track that you follow to the left. At a fence with a small building, turn right and you arrive at the dirt road that runs along Costa Grande, which you follow to the left. Follow it until km 16.25, where you turn left and reach Passo di Santa Croce. Proceed right here onto SP82 and then take the second small road on the left. At km 18.03 you take the track that leads to the Torino-Aosta motorway. Skirt it on the left and then, after the Pietra Grossa tunnel, keep left and then turn right a little further on. Continue along Costa Vasino until just before Cascine Dighera, where you turn right. After a short climb, turn left at an unpaved road. You come out on an asphalt road (shrine), which you follow to the right. After leaving the diversions to S. Martino Canavese/Scarmagno, look out for the dirt road that you must take on the left and then the little path on the right that leads to via Borghetto di Vialfrè. At the first crossroads go straight on along Via Rollino, which becomes Via Giulio Cesare after a bend.
