Highlights and tour details
The educational ring-shaped route designed for visually impaired people is located near Rifugio Levi Molinari (which is its land mark and starting point). The route is self-guided, by means of a rope handrail supported by wooden poles for the entire length of the trail and indications on the track. Thematic stopping points are then set up for the presentation of territorial and environmental values based on sensory perception: along the ring-shaped trail 4 panels and 2 wooden totems are set up in such a way as to introduce and discover the territory by using images for the hands and tactile, auditory, olfactory and gustatory exploration. From the beginning of the track, there are panels along the forest access road to the refuge with Braille inscriptions for the presentation and tactile recognition of the route, of some forest species, for the presentation of the environment and the surrounding territory and the typical fauna of the area. Auditory functions are stimulated by means of stages along the trail to recognise different types of watercourses (the brook, the stream and the waterfall), and it is possible to appreciate other noises and sounds of the environment in the less frequented sites further away from the refuge (the singing of birds, the bellowing of deer in autumn, etc.). Two totems are positioned in the centre of the meadow in front of the refuge, presenting two typical activities of the surrounding location, using images and texts in Braille and in clear text and the presence of objects to be recognised by touch: wood carving and climbing. This continues for other stages along the route, which ends near the intersection with the trail up to Col d'Ambin where a boulder is placed to do bouldering, thus introducing the practice of climbing. In collaboration with the refuge manager, it is also possible to organise tastings of typical local products (including cheeses of different maturity, honey, etc.), associating the available products to their origin and production. The presence of staff at the Levi Molinari refuge who are trained to welcome disabled and visually impaired people guarantees the correct management of the route and the related educational activities.
