The route goes along a former military road. Starting from the hamlet of San Bartolomeo di Chiusa di Pesio, you reach Pian delle Gorre (hiking mountain hut). From here you continue along the former military road 194. At Colle del Prel the route becomes more technical, crossing the narrow pass of the Passo del Duca and then rejoining the route of the Alta Via del Sale.

There are numerous accommodation facilities and refreshment points in Valle Pesio, some equipped with service and/or pedal-assisted and electric bike hire. The Pian delle Gorre hiking mountain hut is the last facility in Valle Pesio. Once on the Alta via del Sale the first useful mountain hut is the Don Barbera. There are tour operators and cycle touring guides who offer accompanying and guiding services There are e-bike hire services nearby. Horse riding excursions are also available.

Points of interest

The former military road 194 Certosa di Pesio - Colle della Boaria, the younger sister of the great "Strade dei Cannoni" in the South-Western Alps, was part of a connection system used by soldiers to reach the Alpine watershed from different valleys. Some of the main attractions include the Carthusian Monastery of Pesio, elevated fortifications and bunkers, and the road's supporting works.
